This Friday at 1 p.m. we leave Ventura by ferry for a weekend camping trip on the Channel Islands, 26 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara.

We found out that there is a water source on the island, so I no longer have to worry about carrying three days worth of water on my back.

Boomer is still going to bring all his own, though, because he doesn’t drink tap water  (ha, I will be sure to get some video of him lugging it around).

Yesterday I bought my tent, sleeping bag, and a bag of trail mix.

It’s supposed to get down into the low 50s at night – and the wind chill will probably make it worse.  My sleeping bag claims it is good down to 32 degrees.

We shall see.

I think I am most looking forward to the lack of Internet and phone reception.
