Arrived at Historic St. James, Rooftop Bound

Although we didn’t deal with much related to Carmaggedon, we did hit some rush hour traffic that extended the drive, but it certainly has not subdued our excitement.

Once you enter San Diego County, the highways are nicely groomed with flowers in the median and the ocean appears on your right.

We packed well and packed heavy – and we’re headed up to the rooftop patio to catch the sunset and have a little happy hour (we stopped at Metropulos on our way out of Santa Barbara and picked up some Salame ToscanoLomo Embuchado, Idiazabal cheese, and Prosecco).

Nothing flashy about the hotel thus far – but it is comfortable and our room has great views of the city.

After reviving ourselves on the roof, we’ll head into the Gaslamp District for some more food and fun.
