Gaslamp District A Must-See for Bar Buffs

Well, we didn’t end up eating dinner last night, but we did have a good time in the Gaslamp.

The happy hour on the rooftop proved to be enough to make us feel content, and we ate thin-sliced meats and creamy cheeses with Prosecco and red wine.

The boys lit up a cigar and one of the girls complained for a little while, then took the stogie herself (?).

The breeze blew across the city and it became a little chilly, although the wine did it’s job and the cigar made me feel fine (tobacco makes me light-headed and my friends like to make fun of me).

We ventured into the Gaslamp after, which is truly a crazy place – not a place you want to take the family for a Friday night out.

I feel like it’s even more nuts than Wrigleyville – although the Gaslamp has better bars and the settings are a tick more upscale – they give off a classy feeling (the settings, at least).

Most of the bars spill out onto the sidewalk (awesome considering San Diego’s mild climate), and we were enticed by the sights and sounds to check out The Fleetwood.  I am not a big dancer, but the place had a really easy-going vibe – you by no means had to dance, but it was hard to keep still given the crowd.  The people here sure love their weekends – it makes me smile.

All right, we are on the run now to brunch and perhaps the beach – stay tuned.

FYI: Note below the cheapest bottle of hotel water I have ever seen.  I can’t remember the last time I saw water in the room cost less than $7.
