Beer on the Brain: San Diego Brew Fest

Last night, after a long day at Sail Bay, we walked along 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp District and dined at Searsucker – the restaurant of Celebrity Chef Brian Malarkey (Top Chef).

They better have cratefuls of this.

My friend made the comment at the table and I have to agree: It was one hell of a menu.

From a $2 habanero and coriander pickle to a $75 ribeye dish, this place is straight down-to-earth class: wide-open setting, modern bar, and even a few couches in the center of the restaurant.

I’ll have a full report this week – another busy day ahead.

We have a 10%-off coupon at the restaurant next to our hotel (it’s actually connected), and after brunch it’s time to taste beer at the San Diego Brew Fest.

I am so excited – a few of my favorite breweries will be pouring.

Tonight, it may take some time to get back to Los Angeles – but the crew is optimistic that it will be a piece of cake.

Famous last words.
