Harvest Colors, Tastes Kick Off New York Swing

How’s this for a fall breakfast: Pumpkin pancakes (with cinnamon) and apple cider.

I can’t say I’ve had either in as long as I can remember – certainly not since moving to California – yet every sip of the cider brought back memories of not only childhood treats, but growing up on the East Coast and experiencing the change of seasons, the different food and drink that comes along with each.

We took a short drive through Elmira this morning, the air a brisk 40-degrees.

It’s cold but the sky is clear, creating an amazing contrast  – the blue of the sky with spots of white clouds backing up the harvest colors of orange, yellow, and red.

No photos yet – we’re headed out to Ithaca today to do a hike, wander around and check out the downtown area.

Tomorrow, we’ll go glassblowing in Corning and wine tasting in the Finger Lakes.
