Coming in 2025: The Wake and Wander Podcast

One of the benefits of staying closer to home the past couple years is that I had the chance to explore some new skills and mediums. In 2023, I started a small podcast called The Palisade Podcast that explored the people and happenings in my home base area of Western Colorado.

Aside from meeting all the inspiring people who make this area great, and filling a void in local media, I saw the project as a way to practice podcasting. A long-time lover of talk radio and other formats of audio storytelling (everything from political podcasts to sports’ broadcasts), I had never done one myself, and I wanted to dip my toe in and see what it was like to interview people on air, and get into deep conversations that were recorded and then shared.

It’s been a fun experience, and I’m ready now to start something with a broader appeal. So, why not the Wake and Wander Podcast. It will be a neat opportunity to feature stories and conversations surrounding the ideas of travel, adventure, and discovery—three principles that have been at the core of my Wake and Wander ideology since the beginning.

I’m sure things will evolve (or not), but the format is going to be conversational to start, with episodes of 60-90 minutes, maybe longer depending on the conversation. More details to come, of course, but it will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, etc.

Once I have a link for you to subscribe, I’ll share it. I hope to kick things off next January, after the new year, although I don’t yet have an exact date on the calendar.

Probably the biggest challenge will be lugging the equipment all over the world (I have a strong preference for in-person interviews), but I’m sure that, after some time, I’ll figure out a way to get it all crammed into my pack, as if it had always been there.
