Breakfast Table Conversation

Here are some things to chat about over the weekend:

Big time surprise: Airline complaints rose sharply in May. But you know, for all I’ve traveled in the past year, I haven’t had many problems.  When I came back from Puerto Rico my bag didn’t show up until the next morning, but that’s about all I can think of.  I actually really enjoy flying, despite all the hassles.

Indiana says kids don’t need to learn cursive anymore, and instead they will focus on typing.  I can’t remember the last time that I wrote in cursive, other than to sign my name.  Still, it’s weird.  I’m only 25 and already my childhood and it’s activities are becoming obsolete.

A hiker was killed by a bear this week at Yellowstone.  A semi-wake-up-call for me – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been hiking and seen mountain lion warning signs, or how many times I’ve camped and had food on the fire at night.  My thoughts go out to the wife and family of the victim.  Sort of makes me smile, though, reading that he told his wife to run and stayed behind.  The wife survived and, as a man – be it cliche or whatever – I have to tip my cap.

America wants to draw more international tourists to our diverse lands and has set up the Corporation for Travel Promotion. Somehow, New Jersey is the 10th most-visited state by international travelers.

Have fun this weekend.
