Trip Announcement: Upstate NY to Precede Eagle Island

I confirmed last night that I will be extending my upcoming trip to the East Coast (I was originally only slated to check out Eagle Island, a private island in Georgia).

Ithaca Gorge during the fall.

On October 27th, I will depart from Santa Barbara and fly to the Ithaca area, where I will spend a few days wandering the Ithaca Gorge, blowing glass, and perhaps caving (more details will emerge as we get closer).

I’m hoping there is still a touch of fall in the trees, but I might be flying right into the cold.

From there I will fly to Jacksonville and drive up the coast into Georgia, where I will take a boat to Eagle Island and spend a few days in seclusion kayaking, cooking, and killing mosquitoes.

It’s a private island – a ten-minute boat ride from Darien, a small fishing town 60 miles south of Savannah.
