I’m currently trying to fit 10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag.
I’m sort of being stubborn about it, but I really want to carry on – it’s nice to come off the plane and avoid the baggage-claim process (and baggage fees).
The problem is that I have to pack for two climates: Winter weather in New York and late-summer breezes in Georgia.
I’ll have to carry my winter jacket under my arm all day tomorrow through the airports – no chance in hell it’s fitting in the small suitcase. Tomorrow will simply fade away for me – I’ll arrive at the Santa Barbara Airport at 8:45 a.m. and walk out of one in New York (Elmira) at 11 p.m.
I love it, though – I always make a friend or two along the way, and I am a fan of airport bars.
Something I found out today: I will be blowing glass and drinking wine on Saturday in the Finger Lakes’ region. And I’ve already planned a visit to Ithaca to see how “gorges” it is, and Syracuse is still a possibility (it will be a game-time decision on Sunday).
I’ve got to get my friend a shirt from Ithaca, don’t let me forget.

well Will… was Ithaca Gorges? My hometown is a Norman Rockwell painting around every corner! Pitty you had to rush through town… I could have put you up just outside the city limits….with a wonderful view of wildlife and Cayuga Lake. So, if you desire to go back…. by the way, next time wait for the snow… its a blast!
Ithaca was beautiful…I will be doing a feature on it in the coming days…
And I will definitely take you up on that offer sometime in the future – I would love to bunk up in the area for a night during the summer!
