Denver: Capitol Hill Mansion, Hotel Teatro to Welcome Wake

I will soon return my skis and say goodbye to the snow in Utah – I’ll be catching a flight to Colorado and spending a few days checking out the lifestyle and offerings of the Mile High City.

It will certainly be bittersweet as I officially close the book on winter. My suitcase is stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey – I have sweaters and hats and thick socks – but according to the forecast I won’t be bringing any snow with me from Salt Lake City as it’s supposed to be in the seventies all next week. The rest of April is stacked with sunny destinations, so I guess that pretty much does it for the cold this year.

The Capitol Hill Mansion will be my first home base, and from there I will move to the Hotel Teatro, which has been voted one of the top 500 hotels in the world by readers of Travel and Leisure (every year since 2009).

Denver has long been on my list of places to visit, mostly because a lot of people I’ve met over the past few years have told me I’d fit in rather well with the lifestyle. I hope to get out on the town and shake some hands, get up in the mountains and partake in some climbing or biking. Fishing in a Colorado stream has also been a goal of mine – we’ll see if I can make that happen.

We’ll talk about the Teatro when the time comes. For now, I’m looking forward to making this place my home for a few days. It certainly has personality:
