Labor Day Celebration: Breckenridge, Boulder, Oskar Blues

The fun continues in Colorado this weekend over Labor Day with stops in Denver, Breckenridge, Boulder, and Lyons. Tonight I will be checking out a concert and hanging in Denver, and tomorrow we’ll head for the mountains and camp near Breckenridge, which is about an hour and a half from the city.

I will be linking up with a few dozen people at the Green Mountain Reservoir for an in-woods lobster bake and camping adventure. I know what you’re thinking. Lobster? In Colorado? No worries – they are being flown in from New England tomorrow morning via DIA. Yes, apparently you can fly a hundred lobsters across the country without much of a problem.

On Sunday, I will return back to the foot of the Rockies and spend a day or two in Boulder. I will be staying at the St. Julien and hanging around town, stay tuned. I will link up with another group on Tuesday and head north to Lyons to spend a few days with the brewers at Oskar Blues, who will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dale’s Pale Ale in Novemeber – their flagship canned craft brew. Oskar Blues is unique in that it is one of the few breweries that prefers to put their creation into cans instead of bottles. In 2002, it became the first US craft brewery to can its own beer.

Enjoy the long weekend here in the States, catch up next week with these stories and more. Cheers!
