Snowstorm, Wake to Meet in Aspen this Weekend

I’m making my way from Denver to Aspen today for a weekend of hotel hopping and skiing amongst reports of incoming snow. I’ll be staying the first two nights at the Sky Hotel – which claims to have “the hottest pool scene in Aspen”- and then moving over to the Westin Snowmass on Saturday. I’ll ski Aspen Mountain on Friday and then Snowmass on Saturday.

If you don't get this, you weren't born in the 90s.

What do I know about Aspen? Well, it’s the most expensive town in America, for one. According to a report from last year, the lowest-priced single-family home on the market was listed for $559,000, and it’s located in a trailer park. My friend just informed me yesterday that Aspen is home to America’s most expensive house, which was on sale a few years ago for $135 million.

Sounds like visitors to the area certainly have to pay to play. This being my first trip, I’m looking forward to finally experiencing the town first hand, as I’ve received mixed reviews from friends and colleagues thus far (some think it’s an iconic town, others think it’s pretentious). That is sort of to be expected, though – money seems to have a way of drawing a line in the sand. Err, snow.
