Remember my tale of hiking in Monument Valley when I climbed halfway up one of the monuments?

Well, I was in the process of making a video to show you that experience (I filmed a lot of the hike), but I recently found out it is illegal to do what I did – that merely stepping off the trail without a Navajo guide is frowned upon/punishable via fine (Tribal Park is controlled by the Navajo).

My bad – I couldn’t resist the opportunity to climb up one of those damn things – it was amazing.

And I won’t apologize for peacefully and respectfully exploring my surroundings, however I will concede that producing a video that glorifies an unwanted behavior would be in poor taste.

I’ll hang on to the footage – maybe one day the rules will change.
