Detroit Tomorrow

I leave early tomorrow morning (6 a.m.) for Detroit to attend the Forward with Ford conference.

It looks innocent enough.

I found out some double good news today  – not only will we get to test drive the vehicles on Thursday morning, we will also get to eat and see a show at the Fillmore Theater Wednesday night.

I’m staying at the Dearborn Inn (Marriott), just outside of Detroit in Dearborn.  It’s a colonial-style hotel that was built in 1931 by Henry Ford.  Seems fitting given the conference, and the photos look promising – I dig the colonial style.

Tomorrow night, they are hosting a cocktail hour/welcome dinner featuring presentations from Ford CEO Alan Mulally and writer Malcolm Gladwell.

This is shaping up to be a pretty interesting trip, and I’m always happy to go somewhere I’ve never been.

Even if it is Detroit, a place labeled by some as the country’s most miserable city.

  1. I actually checked out that article before I left, and I’ll finally get to go into Detroit tonight. I think all places are cool – there’s something to take away from any place you go.
