Yosemite Smiling for Too Many Cameras?

I mentioned in a recent post that I wanted to try and make it to Yosemite in the coming months.

They had record snowfall this winter, and now the waterfalls are flowing and it’s apparently pretty stunning.

According to the article: “Yosemite Falls, the nation’s tallest, is spewing enough water to fill a gasoline tanker truck every two seconds.”

Wow.

But, that is attracting a lot of humans.

Crowds and camping, in my opinion, don’t mix.

What to do, what to do.

  1. Ah, I love Yosemite! I also very much hate crowds and camping so I would not be caught dead camping “in the valley” also they have a LOT of bears in the valley campsites. We’ve camped south of the valley in Wawona and north of the valley in Tuolumne Meadows, both I recommend as they are a lot less crowded, Tuolumne meadows has its own set of awesome hikes rivaling the overcrowded (but must-do) valley hikes (ie Half Dome). The road to Tuolumne doesn’t open until ~Julyish due to snow, so depends on your timing. Also lots of backcountry camping… a little more extreme but a lot less people, that’s probably next for me.

Btw, great pictures from channel islands! I love all this travel writing / traveling in general. If you need a state/national parks correspondent…… let me know 🙂

    • Hi Katie! Thanks for reading and the kind words about the photos. We were looking for a little backcountry adventure at the Channel Islands, but we decided to stay close to the water. Let us know if you’re planning a trip…Wake and Wander would love to go!

Great info on Yosemite…there is a chance I will shoot up there in a few weeks to meet some friends and fight through the crowds.
